Overton Radio has had an incredible 12 months, and it's been a true privilege to share all the exciting moments and stories from our village with you.
Cliddesden Millennium Village Hall was brimming with festive cheer on Sunday as the community came together for the annual Christmas Fayre, an event held to raise funds for Lordsfield Swimming Club. The day was a resounding success, blending holiday joy with a heartwarming display of local support.
Hosted by Overton Radio’s Rob Francis, the hall was transformed into a winter wonderland, complete with twinkling fairy lights and beautifully decorated stalls Local crafters and businesses offered a variety of gifts, handmade decorations, and sweet treats, ensuring there was something for everyone. The raffle, featuring generous prizes donated by local businesses, proved a popular draw, with proceeds going directly to support the Lordsfield Swimming Club’s maintenance and refurbishment.
“We’re thrilled with the turnout,” said Alison Hood, who organises this event every year. “It’s heartening to see so many people come together to support the club. Every penny raised will help us keep the pool running and accessible to the community.”
Lordsfield Swimming Club has long been a staple of the local area, providing a vital space for swimming lessons, fitness, and leisure. Events like the Christmas Fayre ensure its continued operation, while also fostering a strong sense of community.
Attendees expressed their joy at the festive atmosphere and the chance to contribute to a meaningful cause. “It’s such a wonderful event,” one visitor remarked. “It really gets you into the Christmas spirit while supporting something so important for the village.”
With the success of this year’s Fayre, the Lordsfield Swimming Club is set to continue making waves in the community. Organizers are already looking forward to next year’s event, promising even more festive fun and community engagement, and there are also plans for a Summer fayre to be held in the middle of the year.
