The Red Lion is gearing up for an unforgettable VE Day event on Saturday, May 10th, packed with classic cars, fun activities, and a special performance by a Pearly King and two Pearly Queens!
This year’s celebration promises to be a true Cockney knees-up as the venue welcomes Lola Gibbard, the Pearly Queen of Norbury, Sophie Helmsley, the Pearly Queen of Tunbridge Wells, and David Helmsley, the Pearly King of Harrow, who will be entertaining guests with traditional Cockney flair throughout the afternoon.
The full schedule of events is as follows:
10:00 AM – Breakfast
Start the day off right with a hearty breakfast to fuel you for the fun ahead.
12:00 PM – Classic Car Show
Admire a stunning collection of classic cars on display as the event kicks into gear.
1:00 PM – Games and Quizzes
Join in on the action with a series of fun games and quizzes, including the crowd favorite – the Human Fruit Machine!
3:00 PM – Pearly King and Queens Performance
Get ready for a lively performance from the Pearly King and Queens, bringing their Cockney charm to the event.
5:00 PM – Bingo, Rock’n’Roll Bingo
Test your luck and win some fantastic prizes with a fun, retro twist on the classic game.
6:00 PM – Human Shove Ha’penny
Get your competitive spirit going with this old-school pub game, sure to entertain.
7:00 PM – Disco
Dance the night away to the sounds of classic hits at the event’s lively disco.
12:00 AM – Lights Out
After a full day of fun, it’ll be time to wind down and wrap up an incredible day.
Throughout the afternoon, the BBQ will be serving up delicious eats, while special wartime goodies like Warcake, Cream Teas, and more will be available for those who purchase a Wartime Ration Book (£10 each, available at the bar starting Wednesday).
