Winter Solstice Yoga Event at St Mary’s Hall

The winter solstice will bring the shortest day and longest night of the year to the Northern Hemisphere, a moment many view as a turning point toward the slow return of longer, lighter days. It is a date rooted in tradition, reflection, and the steady rhythm of nature.

This year, local yoga teacher Natalia plans to mark the occasion with a free community event at St Mary’s Hall. She will lead participants through 54 sun salutations to honour the growing light, followed by a relaxed, freeform dance meant to shake off the grip of winter and lift the mood.

The session begins at 7.30am on Sunday, December 21. Natalia encourages people of all ages and levels to take part. Warm clothes, a yoga mat, and a water bottle are advised.

The event aims to offer a calm and uplifting start to the solstice, and a reminder that even in the darkest moments of the year, the light is on its way back.
