It was a successful Saturday for Overton Cricket Club, with the first and third teams both recording victories, while the second team suffered a narrow defeat.
The first XI continued their strong form with a 55-run win over Basingstoke and North Hants Third XI at The Recreation Centre. Overton posted an impressive 275 for 7 from their 45 overs before producing a disciplined bowling performance to restrict the visitors to 220 for 9.

The third XI also claimed maximum points after beating Crown Taverners Second XI by four wickets. Having bowled the home side out for 170, Overton comfortably chased down the target, reaching 173 for 6 with plenty of time to spare.
The closest match of the day involved the second XI, who came up just short away to Amport. The hosts made 231 for 5 from their 40 overs, and despite a determined response, Overton were dismissed for 222, leaving Amport with a nine-run victory.
The focus now shifts to Sunday’s action, with both of the club’s women’s teams taking to the field.
The Women’s First XI host Basingstoke and North Hants Women at The Recreation Centre, with play getting underway at 1pm.
Meanwhile, the Women’s Soft Ball team travel to face Basingstoke Capital Women’s W10 side at The War Memorial Park. That match starts at 2pm.
After a positive Saturday, Overton will be hoping their women’s teams can continue the momentum and round off the weekend with further success.
