Rotten Hill Cup Returns Today for Ninth Year of Football and Festivities

The Rotten Hill Cup returns this afternoon at the Overton Recreation Centre, marking its ninth year with a full day of football, entertainment, and community spirit.

The annual event has become a firm fixture in the local calendar, bringing together players, families, and supporters for a mix of competitive action and social atmosphere.

Gates open at 12:00, with pre-match entertainment and activities set to welcome early arrivals. The Junior Cup kicks off at 13:00, offering young players the chance to showcase their talent and energy in front of a lively crowd.

The main event follows at 15:00, as Overton take on Whitchurch in the Over 40s match. The fixture has built a reputation for its competitive edge, with local pride and long-standing rivalry adding to the occasion.

At 17:00, the day reaches its climax with the trophy presentation, where the winners will lift the Rotten Hill Cup.

Organisers have confirmed that there is no parking available at the ground. Visitors are advised to use public transport or park in the public car parks on London Road or Overton Hill before making their way on foot to Bridge Street. Dogs are not permitted on site due to health and safety requirements.

After the final whistle, celebrations will continue into the evening with a disco and live band. Food will be available throughout the day from Yum Yum Catering and Redfort Tandoori, alongside a fully stocked bar.

The event will be hosted by Rob Francis of Overton Radio, with live commentary available on Overton Radio 2 for those unable to attend in person.
