Overton Brownies are preparing for a major change as long-serving leader Michelle Le Warne has announced her retirement after 40 years running the 2nd Overton Brownie pack.
Michelle (on the right) will step down at the end of September, bringing to a close four decades of leadership, commitment, and weekly dedication to the unit, which meets on Tuesday evenings from 5.30pm to 7.00pm at Town Meadow Hut in Overton.
Over the years, she has guided generations of young people through their Brownie experience, building lasting friendships along the way. Many of those former members are now parents – and even grandparents – a fact Michelle says makes her feel “a bit old”, but also incredibly proud of the long history she has helped shape.
As she prepares to retire, Michelle says she has “had so much fun and experience” and is grateful for the friendships and memories made during her time with the group. While stepping back from her role, she has confirmed she is happy to help a new volunteer learn the ropes and support a smooth handover.
Her retirement marks the end of an era for the 2nd Overton Brownies, a unit that has been a steady part of village life for decades.
Michelle is now making a direct appeal for someone to come forward to take over the leadership of the pack and help ensure it continues for the next generation.
Anyone interested in the role can contact Michelle on 07787 535950.
