Basingstoke and Deane launches consultation on possible fare changes for Route 59 bus

Passengers who use the Route 59 bus service between Whitchurch, Overton and Basingstoke are being encouraged to have their say as a public consultation opens on possible fare changes.

The Route 59 is one of Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council’s supported community bus services, providing vital transport links for residents travelling to work, school, healthcare appointments, shopping and other essential services.

As part of its ongoing work to ensure the long-term future of the service, the council is consulting on a range of options for the Route 59 fare, including the possibility of an increase.

The council says it wants to understand how any changes could affect passengers before making a decision. Feedback from residents and regular users of the service will help shape the future of the route.

The consultation is aimed at anyone who currently uses the Route 59 service or may be affected by any changes to fares. The council is particularly interested in hearing about the potential impact that different pricing options could have on people’s ability to travel.

Community-supported bus services such as the Route 59 play an important role in connecting rural communities including Whitchurch and Overton with Basingstoke, helping people access employment, education, healthcare and other key services.

Residents are encouraged to take part in the consultation and share their views before any decisions are made on the future fare structure.

Further information about the consultation, including how to submit your comments, is available through the Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council website.
