Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd September 2023
It wasn’t a great start to the season for any of our local Overton football teams. Gary Savory reports:
“We start on Saturday with Overton first team losing at home to Broughton 2-1. The consolation goal from Overton United was Ben Dillon first on the score sheet and special mention, ‘Man of the Match’ – on his 18th birthday – Charlie Boyt, local Overton lad excelling for Overton first team – Happy Birthday Charlie.
“Overton Reserves, again narrowly defeated 1-0 against local rivals, CK Andover. Special mention ‘Man of the Match’ to Alex Spencer in midfield for the Reserves.
“Overton Sunday first team, a draw against Hampshire Irons 2-2 with two goals from Tyrell Read. ‘Man of the Match’ was James Harrington.
And Overton Sunday Reserves, also in a narrow defeat 4-3 against Basingstoke Casuals. Despite the results, scorers were local lads, two from Richard Sopp and one from Scotty Winterbourne. ‘Man of the Match’ goes to Luke Mitchell.”
The Overton first team’s next League match is at home to QK Southampton on Tuesday, 16th of September. Overton Vets play their first match of the season away this Sunday against Milford and Witley.
