Travellers who arrived at the Berrydown sports ground on Friday evening have now moved on.

The travellers have left the facility in a terrible state. Social media users have reported that rubbish has been thrown over fences, a portable toilet emptied, dogs on the loose, cars racing round the cricket pitch beeping their horns and litter has been left everywhere.

On Saturday evening, Overton United Football Club confirmed that the travellers had begun to move on.

As a result of the travellers’ visit to the village, Overton Cricket Club’s 3rd XI match had to be postponed. The club have said “Once we have safe access to the ground we will survey any damage and work on returning the facility to the high standards we all enjoy.”

If you see anything suspicious, you are advised to call the police on 101.
