South Western Railway to start charging for parking at Overton station from Monday 23 February

South Western Railway will introduce parking charges at the station car park in Overton from Monday 23 February, ending the long-standing free parking for rail users and visitors.

New signs have now been installed at the site setting out the new tariff and payment methods.

Under the new system, drivers will be charged the following rates:

  • Peak daily parking, valid for 24 hours when using RingGo or ScanPay, will cost £2.00.
  • Off-peak daily parking, available from 12 noon Monday to Friday, will cost £1.00.
  • Parking on Saturday will cost £1.00.
  • Parking on Sunday will cost £1.00.
  • A weekly ticket will cost £7.90.
  • Parking on a public holiday will cost £1.00.

Drivers will be able to pay by mobile phone using the RingGo app, or by calling 01256 802804. The location code for the Overton station car park is 77523. The sign confirms that paying by phone costs the same as paying with cash.

Season tickets will also be available from the ticket office, with prices set at £27.60 per month, £82.80 per quarter, and £276.00 for an annual ticket.

The new system will operate on a pay on arrival basis. Drivers will not be able to pay later and there will be no pay-on-exit option.

Payment will be accepted in three ways: through RingGo for daily, weekly, monthly and season tickets, by cash for daily, weekly and season tickets, and at the self-service ticket machine for daily and weekly parking.

The station notice states that charges will apply at all times, from Monday to Sunday, including public holidays.

Disabled bays will only be available for Blue Badge holders. Blue Badge holders will not be charged, but must still register their vehicle.

Parking enforcement at the site will be managed by APCOA Parking, which can be contacted on 0330 333 2535.
