A long-closed village building may soon be brought back to life by a group of local residents with plans to transform it into a vibrant community hub.
An amateur Overton cake maker has won a silver award at a major international cake decorating event in Birmingham.
Natasha Jesney from Kings Meadow won the Silver Award in the Beginners Category for her Toadstool-styled cake at the Cake International event last weekend.
The major competition which has around 1,100 entrants celebrated its 30th anniversary this year claims to be the ‘biggest cake decorating and baking competition in the world’.
Natasha (Tash) told Overton Radio, “My baking and cake decorating just started as a hobby, but I seem to be doing more and more.
“I really enjoy the process, and to be honest, I make and decorate cakes just to relax.”
After friends and family kept encouraging Tash to enter the ‘Great British Bake Off’, she said entering the Cake International competition was “actually just a compromise”.
32-yer old Tash added, “I was really surprised to be anywhere near the top. My cake was actually made of cake, not just a decoration like some other entrants, so me and (husband) Ed even got to eat it afterwards”.
“Entering the competition this year has been really useful. It has given me many ideas for next year’s event and I got lots of really great feedback from the judges about texturing.”
Husband Ed added, “I thought it was delicious”.
