Overton Utd Sunday Team Triumph in Junior Challenge Cup Thriller

Overton United Sunday Team capped off a spirited season in the most dramatic fashion, lifting the Junior Challenge Cup after a nerve-shredding 8-7 penalty shootout victory over Pals South Reserves.

It wasn’t the ideal start for Overton, who found themselves 1-0 down within the first five minutes. But true to their fighting spirit, the lads refused to let their heads drop. Their perseverance paid off late in the first half when Samie Aldoori slotted home the all-important equaliser, sending the Overton faithful into raptures.

Despite a tense second half, neither side could find the breakthrough, meaning the cup would be decided from the spot. What followed was a masterclass in composure: every Overton penalty was dispatched with ice-cold precision. After a marathon shootout, it was Overton who held their nerve, sealing a memorable 8-7 win.

With that, the season wraps up for Overton’s First Team, Reserves, and Sunday Side — a campaign full of grit, determination, and no shortage of drama. The Veterans still have one final showdown on the horizon, away to Aldermaston on May 11th.
