A group of local mums from Overton are taking on an 18-mile sponsored walk next month to raise money for the village swimming pool.
The group, known as the Overton Kites, usually meet to run together, but on 9th May they will be swapping their usual route for a much bigger challenge — walking from the lido in Newbury all the way back to the Overton Pool.
With the recent sunshine making many people wish the pool was already open, the group said it felt like the perfect time to help support the much-loved local facility.
The walk will cover around 18 miles and the group admits it will be a tough challenge, but they say the cause makes it worthwhile.
They added: “It’s approximately 18 miles so a bit of a challenge, but the pool is obviously worth it.”
The Overton Kites are now asking for sponsorship from the local community, with every donation helping to support the future of the village pool ahead of the summer season.
