Overton Football: First Team Falls Short in GMMS Semi-Final, Women Grab Last Minute Draw

Overton United’s first team suffered another semi-final exit, this time in the GMMS, as they were narrowly defeated 2-1 by Denmead. Macca Martin scored the lone goal for Overton in what was a hard-fought match. Despite the loss, attention quickly turns to league action, with the first team gearing up for a midweek clash against Rushmoor on Wednesday. It will be the team’s first game under lights in nearly two years as they return to Bridge Street.

Meanwhile, the reserves also faced defeat in their latest outing, losing 4-1 to North Warnborough. Thai Halliday was the scorer for Overton United Reserves, but it wasn’t enough to avoid the loss. The reserves will have a chance to bounce back next Saturday when they travel to North Warnborough for the reverse fixture.

In a twist of fate, the Sunday side’s scheduled match was postponed as their opposition was unable to field a team.

On a brighter note, the Overton Youth Women’s team managed to secure a dramatic 1-1 draw against Fulcrum Ladies in their away match. A 90th-minute equalizer from Maja earned the team a crucial point in their bid for a top-three finish in their first-ever league season. The next challenge awaits next Sunday when the team heads to face Rushmoor Community Devs.

With league games on the horizon, Overton United will be looking to regroup and push forward in their respective campaigns. Stay tuned for all the action!
