Minibus Stolen From SEN School

A specialist educational needs (SEN) school for children with complex autism is appealing to the community for help after one of its minibuses was stolen overnight.

The vehicle, a white Ford Transit minibus with the registration YN63 EVG, was parked on Bridge Street and contained essential equipment for the school’s curriculum. The theft was discovered early this morning at 7:05 am when staff arrived to collect the bus.

The minibus is integral to the school’s efforts to provide vital life skills to its students. Regular outings into the community allow children to practice these skills in real-world settings, helping them to gain confidence and independence.

Speaking on social media, Katie Hunter, assistant headteacher of Freemantles School in Woking, whose bus it was, said “This is not only devastating for the actual bus & items, but will have a huge impact on our children who will not be able to access the community until the bus is replaced, which could take some time.”

The school is urging anyone who may have seen the minibus or has information about its whereabouts to come forward.

The minibus, which is white and marked as a Ford Transit, was packed with essential teaching materials at the time of its theft. If you have any information about the stolen minibus, please contact the local police on 101.
