Two Overton residents are in training to take on a tough running session to raise money for a local children’s charity.
Gregor Restell and Nick Reedman are joining forces to run the London Marathon on Sunday April 21st, but that’s not the end of the story. Once the two of them have completed the marathon, they’ll be running another 60 miles from London back to Overton, which will take them on a journey from central London to the outskirts of the M25 through to the rolling Surrey Hills and back into Basingstoke and onto Overton.
The two lads are doing this challenge to raise money for Dreams Come True, whose mission is to enrich the lives of children & young people with serious and life-limiting conditions, by making their dreams come true. A dream generates feelings of security & happiness, for children & young people whose lives have been turned upside down. The day to day of everyday life can seem like a mountain to climb, but with a dream a life can be transformed.
As part of their fundraising efforts, The Greyhound on Winchester Street will be hosting a race night on Friday 8th March, and over the Easter weekend, the Easter Bunny is planning on making an appearance in the village to raise even more money.
