HELLO DAVE! Pub Plans St David’s Day Fundraiser

The Red Lion in Overton is marking St David’s Day with a light-hearted charity event aimed at one very specific group – people called David.

On Sunday 1 March 2026, anyone who can prove they are a bona fide David will be offered a free pint from the taps. The pub hopes to attract as many Davids as possible through the doors as part of a fundraising effort for The Farming Community Network.

The afternoon will include a special “Meats & Beats” meat raffle and music quiz, supported by Geoff Aubrey & Sons Family Butchers Ltd in Oakley. There will also be rounds of a pub game called “Brave The Dave”, alongside other themed activities.

Visitors are being invited to guess how many Davids will turn up on the day. Those who guess correctly will help boost the total raised for the charity, which supports farming families during tough times.

The event runs throughout Sunday afternoon, with the pub encouraging locals to spread the word and bring along any Davids they know. The aim is simple: fill the pub with Davids, have a laugh, and raise money for a good cause.
