Weekend Sport Roundup

It was a mixed weekend for local sport, with action across football and rugby.

There was no game for Overton United on Saturday after their match was postponed. Attention turned to the reserve side, who were in league action and picked up a solid 2–1 win against Jubilee FC. A strong team effort saw them take all three points.

Overton United Vets also had reason to celebrate. They moved into round three of the Mike Parker Trophy with a 2–1 victory over Rovers FC at Bridge Street. It was a close game, but Overton did enough to see it through.

In rugby, Overton faced a tough test away to Aldershot and Fleet. The match was scoreless at half time, with both sides locked in a tight battle. Aldershot and Fleet pulled ahead in the second half, and despite a late score from Overton, the game finished 14–5 to the hosts.

Plenty of effort on display across the weekend, with positive results to build on in the weeks ahead.
