Town Meadow Golf Club rounded off its final match of 2026 with an impressive 4-1 victory over Farnham Park, capping off a successful year of performances despite challenging, windy conditions.
The team secured four points from five matches, with some excellent individual performances and a dramatic finish helping to seal the win.
Neil Armstrong and Steve Smith suffered the team’s only defeat, losing 9&8, with the match over after just 10 holes. However, Armstrong had a consolation prize, claiming nearest to the pin on the sixth hole.
Graham Bond and Tim Saunders delivered a thrilling finish to secure their match 2up. Saunders produced what he described as a superb hybrid draw shot off the tee before calmly sinking the putt to clinch victory on the final hole.
Andy Thomas and Chris Gordon were next to finish, recording a solid 3&2 win. Their opponents made them work for it, however, holing out from 100 yards with a fairway shot to save par towards the end of the match.
Neil Butler and Bryan Holden secured the most convincing victory of the day, winning 4&2. After a topsy-turvy opening nine holes, the pair hit their stride on the back nine to pull away from their opponents.
The final point went to Chris Davis and Jim Hawkshaw, who left it late but maintained their composure to secure a 2&1 victory.
The result provided a fitting end to TMGC’s 2026 campaign, with the team once again demonstrating its strength and consistency, even in difficult weather conditions.
With four points on the board and another strong team performance to celebrate, Town Meadow will head into the new year on a high.
