Bedazzled - The Summer Song 1992

Do you remember this greatest ‘summer song’ of all time?

After a week off, David was back on-air this morning claiming he didn’t believe anyone else has ever heard his favourite song, or even the band.

“The Summer Song” was released by Gloucester-based Indie-Pop band ‘Bedazzled’ in 1992.

David’s copy is in a lockup in Whitchurch amongst around a thousand other CDs. On this morning’s Breakfast Show, David shared, “If I had to get rid of all my CDs, there’s one I would really want to keep.

“And, it’s a song you’ve never heard, by a band you’ve never heard of”.

The song isn’t currently available on any streaming service like Amazon Music or Spotify, but Rob Francis has tracked down a copy of the song and with thanks to Steve Picturebox .

The song was from their only album ‘Sugarfree’ and it never really charted, it only got to Number 73 in the UK.

The band have now been split for over 30 years and the limited amount of online reviews about the band suggests it was the rise of Grunge music in the 90s which killed what David thinks should have been a stellar career.

So… What do you think? Do you recognise the song? Do you remember the band?

And, more importantly, do you agree with David? Is this the best ‘summer song’ ever? Share your comments on David’s Bedazzled post on Facebook.
