Spectacular Fireworks Light Up Overton: Community Gathers for Annual Display

Overton was treated to a dazzling display of lights, music, and community spirit on Saturday night as the village’s annual fireworks event, organised by the Overton School Association and Pyrotastic Fireworks, drew a record crowd. The event, held at Overton Primary School, proved to be a fantastic evening for families and residents of all ages.

Hosted by Rob Francis from Overton Radio, the evening began with a warm welcome as families arrived, eagerly anticipating the show. Rob kept the crowd entertained, offering lively commentary and shout-outs to excited children waving their glow sticks and wrapped up in winter hats and scarves.

Adding to the festive atmosphere was live music from Overton Radio’s Kevin Ridgeon, whose energetic setlist included a mix of classic rock hits and upbeat tunes. The live entertainment created a party-like vibe, with many in the crowd dancing and singing along.

As darkness fell, anticipation built for the main event. The team from Pyrotastic Fireworks did not disappoint, delivering a spectacular pyrotechnic display that lit up the sky above Overton. Choreographed to an uplifting soundtrack, the fireworks painted the night with vibrant bursts of colour, leaving the audience in awe. Families watched in amazement as cascades of gold, red, blue, and green filled the sky, each explosion greeted with cheers and applause.

The Overton School Association, who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to organise the event with the help of Basingstoke Rotary Club, was thrilled with the turnout. All proceeds from the evening will go towards supporting the school’s projects and activities, providing much-needed resources for the pupils.

Speaking after the display, Rob Francis said: “It’s always a pleasure to host this event and see the community come together for a night like this. The display was stunning, and the atmosphere was fantastic. It’s a real highlight of the year.”

The organisers expressed their gratitude to everyone who attended, as well as to the volunteers and sponsors who made the event possible. A spokesperson from the Overton School Association added: “We’re so grateful for the support from the community. It’s wonderful to see everyone having such a great time, and we can’t wait to do it all again next year.”
