For the second year, Overton will welcome a spectacular procession of festively decorated tractors as this year’s Christmas Light Tractor Run is scheduled to pass through the village on Saturday 28 November.
Last year the visually impressive fundraiser made close to £4,000 for farmers’ charity FCN (Farming Community Network).
This year, organisers have launched a JustGiving page to help raise funds for the charity which helps over 10,000 people each year who are connected to the UK’s farming community.

The procession already has over 40 tractors participating which are planned to arrive in Overton after the Christmas Market concludes at around 7pm.
The later start is intended to ensure it is properly dark when the procession reaches each village, allowing the Christmas lights to be seen at their best. It’s currently planned for the Christmas Market to finish at 5pm.
Tractor Run co-organiser ‘Farmer Steve’ Richardson says he hopes traders will consider extending their trading hours, “We have to make sure its properly dark through our entire route from Polhampton Farm, via Overton to Whitchurch.
“We believe traders will benefit from the tractor run procession because of the extra trading time while giving customers something to peruse and enjoy while waiting for the tractors to arrive.
“It will be an incredible festive experience”.
Volunteers are also being sought to help with the event, including collecting donations using buckets and assisting with traffic direction along the route. Anyone interested in getting involved is encouraged to contact organisers by email here.
Traders finishing at the Christmas Market and drivers completing the Tractor Run are being made welcome at The Red Lion in Overton for a free cup of Mulled Wine after the event as part of their ‘Tractor Run After Party’.
