With Basingstoke Business Week just days away, local businesses are being urged to claim a free expert review that could help them save money, boost efficiency and cut carbon.
The one-hour review is carried out by specialists in Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council’s Green Team, who work with businesses to offer them tailored advice.
They include a discussion about the business, either at the premises or by phone. At the end of the review, businesses receive a free report with recommendations for how to go greener while saving money and are provided information about networking groups and grants suitable to them.
Over 40 businesses across the borough have already benefited from having a green business review, uncovering opportunities to save money and improve efficiency and sustainability.
The council is highlighting its free service ahead of this year’s Basingstoke Business Week, Monday 9 to Friday 13 November. Organised by the borough’s businesses and other civic and community organisations’, the week showcases local businesses and offers opportunities for networking, learning and growth.
The council’s Cabinet Member for Climate and Ecological Emergency Cllr Chris Tomblin said: “We recognised that many small businesses want to make progress but can’t dedicate time or resources to sustainability. Our Green Team makes things easier by doing the research for them and identifying practical actions tailored to their business.
“Whether sustainability is something they’ve been meaning to look at for a while, or they’re simply curious about what opportunities exist, I encourage all businesses in the borough to take advantage of this great initiative and do their part to make Basingstoke and Deane a more sustainable borough.”
