It was a mixed weekend for Overton’s football sides, while Overton Rugby Club continued their impressive run of form with a third consecutive victory.
Overton United suffered a 5-2 defeat away from home against Liss Athletic. United went into the half-time break trailing 2-1, with Louis Wilson finding the net twice for the visitors.
Despite Wilson’s brace, Overton were unable to get back into the game and ultimately slipped to defeat. The result sees United drop to 11th place in the league table.
There was also disappointment for Overton United’s Sunday side, who travelled to face North Hants Athletic but returned home empty-handed following a 4-1 defeat. Scott Winterbourne scored Overton’s only goal.
However, there was better news from the rugby pitch, where Overton Rugby Club made it three wins in a row.
The side travelled to face Winchester 2nds and came away with an impressive 29-17 victory, continuing their recent run of good form.
The win keeps Overton fifth in the league table as they look to build on their momentum in the coming weeks.
