Village street names brought to life in special talk by Jane Mackenzie

Life-long Overton resident Jane Mackenzie will be sharing the stories behind some of the village’s best-known street names at a special evening event later this month.

Jane will present a fascinating and carefully researched talk exploring how Overton’s streets were named, what they once meant, and how the history of the village can still be read in the names we walk past every day.

The talk will take place following a short annual general meeting of Heritage Overton on Thursday 26 February, starting at 7.30pm, at Overton Community Centre.

Organisers say the event is aimed at anyone with an interest in local history, family connections to the village, or simply a curiosity about how Overton has grown and changed over the years.

Members of Heritage Overton can attend the evening free of charge, while visitors are very welcome and can join the event for £5, payable in cash on the door.
