Overton’s well-known lollipop man, Keith Vallis, is preparing to take on a 60-mile walking challenge to raise money for Headway Basingstoke after the charity helped him recover from a stroke in 2022.
Keith, who is a familiar face in the village helping children safely cross the road each day, says the support he received from the brain injury charity played a huge part in his recovery.
Now, to mark both his 60th birthday and the charity’s 40th anniversary, he is giving something back by walking 60 miles over two days.
On May 27 and 28, Keith will complete a loop between Overton and Headway Basingstoke’s base in Basingstoke, aiming to raise vital funds for the organisation that supported him through one of the toughest periods of his life.
Headway Basingstoke provides help and rehabilitation for people living with brain injuries, offering support to both survivors and their families.
Keith hopes the challenge will not only raise money but also awareness of the work the charity does for local people facing life-changing injuries and recovery journeys.
Residents are being encouraged to support Keith’s challenge and help him reach his fundraising goal.
