Tristan Harper Gives Overton a Home Win

It was another home win for Overton today, courtesy of Overton Rugby centre back Tristan Harper.

Basingstoke’s Chris Cloke, winner of the TV show Come Dine With Me, was relegated to second place in The Red Lion’s Olympic Breakfast Challenge

The breakfast which contains 3 sausages, 3 bacon, 3 eggs, 3 hash browns as well as beans, mushrooms, tomato, toast and fried bread was polished off by Overton’s Tristan Harper just in just 8 minutes and 9 seconds, faster than some of his try scoring efforts.

Christopher Cloke, who presents weekend programmes on Overton Radio, was so confident in his 10 minutes and 2 second record attempt he bet 3 pints that his time wouldn’t be beaten.

But that challenge fell apart on a weekend, where Tristan couldn’t even work-off the calories on the rugby pitch. Overton, who are unbeaten at home this season, have had today’s away match against Winchester III cancelled.

A fine effort from Aaron Heaver gave him a time of 12 minutes and 6 seconds, but couldn’t quite convert.  Aaron’s efforts put him firmly in third place.

Mortgage Advisor Tommy Pearce as well as Mason Payne and Ian Atkinson were removed to the sin bin, ending in 4th,5th and 6th place respectively.

Following this morning’s effortless triumph putting Overton back at the top of the League, Tristan’s wife Victoria said, “Yeah, he eats like that at home too.

“And he’ll want lunch, too”.

We are gutted for Overton Radio’s Chris Cloke, but naturally pleased that the record goes to an Overtonian.  And we wish Overton RFC all the best for the remaining two games of the 2025/2026 season.

The Red Lion serves food Wednesdays to Sundays, with breakfast served on Saturdays from 10am.
