It was a difficult Saturday for Overton Cricket Club, with all three senior teams on the wrong side of results against strong opposition.
1st XI beaten by St Cross Symondians
The 1st XI faced a daunting run chase after St Cross Symondians 3rd XI piled on a commanding 318 for 4 from their 45 overs. Despite some spirited batting efforts, Overton were eventually bowled out for 185 in 38.4 overs, handing St Cross a 133-run victory.
2nd XI fall to St Mary Bourne
Overton’s 2nd XI put in a battling display with the bat, posting 148 for 8 from 40 overs, but it wasn’t enough to halt a dominant reply from St Mary Bourne. Their openers took control of the chase, and the hosts cruised to 151 for 1 in just 20.1 overs, sealing a nine-wicket win.
3rd XI undone by Basingstoke Capital
The 3rd XI endured a frustrating afternoon, bowled out for 125 in 37.3 overs against Basingstoke Capital 1st XI. The reply was brutal and clinical, with the home side knocking off the runs without loss in only 16.5 overs, claiming a 10-wicket win.
