The Red Lion is kicking off 2026 with a proper brain workout and a good cause, as it hosts its Big Quiz of the Year on New Year’s Day, starting at 6.30pm.
The quiz will look back over 2025, testing teams on the big stories, odd moments, and things you swear you remember until the question lands. Expect a mix of news, culture, sport, and a few surprises designed to spark debate at the table and friendly arguments on the way home.
Hosting the night is Overton Radio’s Rob Francis, bringing his familiar voice, quick wit, and a healthy dose of mischief to keep things moving. Rob is well known locally for his radio work and live events, and promises a relaxed, fun evening that anyone can enjoy, whether you’re a quiz regular or just there for the laughs.
Importantly, the quiz is also raising money for The Farming Community Network (FCN), which is The Red Lion’s nominated charity for 2026. FCN supports farmers and their families during tough times, offering practical help and a listening ear in what can be a very isolated profession. Every penny raised on the night will go directly towards supporting local farming communities.
The Red Lion is encouraging teams to arrive early, grab a drink, and settle in before the quiz begins. Numbers may be limited, so booking ahead is advised.
