Overton residents are being invited to roll up their sleeves and get planting as Sustainable Overton holds its first-ever Big Bulb Plant at Overton Community Orchard on Saturday 25 October from 10am-midday.
The family-friendly event will see volunteers help prepare the orchard for a dazzling display of native wild daffodils next spring — a welcome boost for the area’s early pollinators and local biodiversity.
The bulbs have been generously supplied by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, supporting Sustainable Overton’s ongoing mission to make the village greener, more vibrant, and buzzing with life.
Organisers say everyone is welcome, whether you’ve got green fingers or not. Experts will be on hand to offer advice and guidance, so all participants need to bring is a pair of gloves and a can-do attitude.
And, of course, no community event would be complete without refreshments and cake — perfect for a well-earned break between planting sessions.
So, if you fancy spending a crisp autumn morning making Overton even more beautiful, head down to the orchard on the 25th and join in the fun. It’s good for the planet, good for the bees, and good for the soul.
