With the promise of sunny skies and soaring spirits, it’s shaping up to be a bumper weekend for Overton’s cricket teams — and fans are in for a treat both on and off the field.
1st XI on the Road to Andover
Fresh from a string of strong performances, Overton’s 1st XI hit the road to face Andover this weekend. With a winning run that’s launched them up to second in the league table, the squad will be aiming to keep the momentum going and put pressure on the leaders. All eyes will be on whether they can deliver another standout performance away from home.
2nd XI Back on Home Turf
Meanwhile, the 2nd XI return to familiar ground with confidence riding high after a resounding win last week. The home support at Overton is always vocal, and the team will be hoping to give them another reason to cheer as they aim to climb further up the standings.
3rd XI Head to Cove with a Point to Prove
Following a narrow loss, the 3rd XI are hungry to bounce back — and they’ll get their shot when they travel to Cove. Last year’s meeting saw Overton edge out a tight contest, and they’ll be hoping history repeats itself in another closely fought battle.
Spotlight on Sunday: W10 Festival Takes Centre Stage
Sunday brings something a little special as the Overton W10 team hosts their much-anticipated cricket festival at Bridge Street, with the first ball set to be bowled at 1.30pm. Teams from Whitchurch, Alton, Langley, and of course Overton will all be in action in a celebration of women’s cricket.
But it’s not just about what happens on the pitch — the clubhouse will be open, the BBQ will be blazing, and none other than Rob from Overton Radio will be on hand to provide the soundtrack and keep the vibes high as host and DJ for the day.
With great sport, great food, and great company all in the mix, this promises to be a cracking weekend of cricket in Overton.
Good luck to all our teams — and come out and support the ladies on Sunday!
