Residents in Overton will have another chance to see The People’s Emergency Briefing when it is screened at St Mary’s Hall on Wednesday 21st October, from 7.30pm to 9.30pm.
The 50-minute film brings together nine leading UK scientists and experts to examine the latest evidence on environmental change and its potential impact on issues including extreme weather, food security, health and the cost of living.
The briefing is based on the National Emergency Briefing held in Westminster, which was covered by ITV, Channel 4 and The Times. It features contributions from Chris Packham, Deborah Meaden and a range of voices from across the UK.
The screening will be followed by an open discussion focusing on what the issues raised could mean for Overton and the surrounding community, and what can be done locally.
Organisers have invited local MP Kit Malthouse to attend and take part in the discussion, and are hopeful he will be able to join residents.
Admission is free, but places are limited and advance booking is required. Tickets are available through Ticket Tailor.
The film is not recommended for anyone under 16 because of the impact of its content.
Anyone who books a ticket but later cannot attend is asked to let organisers know, so their place can be offered to someone else.
Everyone is welcome, with residents encouraged to bring along friends, neighbours or family members for what organisers hope will be an informative and thought-provoking evening.
