Planning appeal over 130-home scheme near Overton to be heard in person

An in-person planning inquiry into a major housing proposal near Overton will take place in Basingstoke later this month.

The appeal relates to planning application 24/01827/OUT for land south-west of Sapley Lane, Overton. The proposal is for up to 130 homes, public open space including a country park, and associated landscaping and infrastructure. All matters are reserved except for access.

The inquiry will be held at the Civic Offices, London Road, Basingstoke from 10am on Tuesday, 17 March, and is expected to run for six days.

Members of the public may attend. Parking at the Civic Offices is limited to a maximum of 90 minutes, so visitors are advised to use alternative parking.

The appeal is being handled by the Planning Inspectorate under reference APP/H1705/W/25/3375722.
The council reference is 25/00073/REF.

Copies of statements from the appellant and the council can be inspected online via the planning portal, or in person at Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council offices between 8.30am and 4.30pm, Monday to Friday. Visitors are advised to book an appointment in advance to ensure documents are available.

The appeal decision will be published online in due course on both the Planning Inspectorate website and the council’s website.
