Overton’s Community Speedwatch team is calling for new volunteers to help keep local roads safe, following the retirement of its long-serving lead coordinator.
The initiative empowers residents to take positive action against speeding by monitoring vehicle speeds and raising awareness about road safety. Volunteers use approved equipment to record vehicle speeds, with the aim of encouraging drivers to slow down and drive responsibly.
The role is flexible, and all necessary training and equipment are provided. Organisers are also looking for someone to take on the role of lead Speedwatcher to help coordinate the project and ensure it continues to make a difference.
Anyone interested in joining the team or finding out more can contact the Parish Clerk, Shelly Webb, by email at clerk@overtonparishcouncil.gov.uk.
