The Overton Walking Group (OWG) is hosting a Fun Quiz and Curry Night on Friday, February 21st, at St Mary’s Hall. The event kicks off at 7pm, with the quiz starting at 7:30pm. Guests can look forward to a delicious curry provided by local restaurant Redfort.
Teams can have a maximum of eight members, and tickets are priced at £15 per person. The OWG promises a lively evening of trivia, great food, and community spirit. Those interested in participating can register their teams at Parnell Jordy & Harvey.
The proceeds from this event will help support the OWG’s vital work in maintaining the village’s footpaths and public spaces. The group relies on grants from Hampshire County Council to fund essential equipment for clearing fallen trees, maintaining footpaths, and laying scalpings to improve footpath surfaces. OWG volunteers also play a significant role in keeping Overton tidy, including clearing leaves and maintaining the community centre.
However, changes to grant funding in 2025 mean that the OWG will need to secure additional financial support to apply for grants for equipment and training. Events like the Quiz and Curry Night are an important step toward achieving this goal.
The OWG holds weekly walks every Tuesday and Thursday, meeting at 9:50am at The Pavilion on Bridge Street. New and experienced walkers are always welcome to join.
For a fun evening and a chance to support a valuable community group, mark your calendar for February 21st!
