Overton School Gears Up for Summer Fete Extravaganza – Volunteers Needed!

With just one month to go until the highly anticipated Overton Primary School Summer Fete, the organising committee is issuing a heartfelt call for volunteers to help make this year’s event an unforgettable success. Set to be a vibrant community gathering taking place on Saturday June 21st, the fete promises fun for all ages, with Overton Radio on hand to host the day’s festivities.

The committee is seeking assistance in a variety of capacities, offering flexible ways for individuals and families to contribute their time and talents.

Run a Game or Activity: Each year group is encouraged to take ownership of a fun stall or activity. The organisers are ready to provide all necessary materials and support; what they need most are enthusiastic individuals to staff these engaging attractions. Those interested in rallying their year group or class are urged to reach out via their year/class WhatsApp groups, email, or Facebook message.

Green Thumbs Wanted for Plant Stall: For those with a knack for gardening, the fete’s popular plant stall is looking for donations of homegrown plants. The committee is happy to arrange collection of plants prior to the fete to ensure convenience for contributors.

Bake Off Challenge and Cake Stall Contributions: Home bakers are invited to whip up their best cakes and biscuits for the dedicated cake stall. Adding an exciting competitive element, a “Bake Off” competition will be held with categories for KS1, KS2, and an Open category. Aspiring bakers should note that creations will be judged by Mrs. Wyeth and the Head Boy & Girl on Friday, June 20th, providing ample time to perfect those recipes!

General Volunteers Needed: Beyond these specific roles, there are numerous other opportunities to contribute to the smooth running of the fete. From setting up to tidying away, and everything in between, extra hands are always welcome. Individuals keen to help in any capacity are encouraged to get in touch for further information on available roles.

“The Summer Fete is a cornerstone of our community calendar, and its success truly relies on the generosity and spirit of our volunteers,” said a spokesperson for the organising committee. “We have so many exciting plans in the pipeline, and with just a month to go, every bit of help makes a huge difference. Whether you can spare an hour or the whole day, grow a plant, or bake a cake, we would be incredibly grateful for your support.”

To offer your assistance or for more information on how you can get involved, please contact the Summer Fete organising committee via the year/class WhatsApp groups, email, or Facebook message.
