Overton Radio will unveil a renewed evening schedule from Monday, January 5th, bringing two hours of specialist programming each night from 7pm to 9pm. The station plans a gentle refresh rather than a full overhaul, with new shows joining established favourites.
The biggest additions arrive at the weekend. Saturday evenings will now host a Motown and Northern Soul show, while Sundays introduce Symphony Lane, a classical music programme designed to round off the week with calm and clarity. These new shows sit alongside long-running staples that keep their regular spots: Country Roads stays on Tuesdays, Grooveline with Stephen Howie holds its Thursday groove, and Party Anthems continues to run the Friday night dancefloor.
The refreshed structure gives each evening a clear theme. Mondays open with Retro Rewind, offering hits from the 1950s through to the 1980s. Tuesdays remain the home of country music with Country Roads. Wednesdays push the volume up with rock show Full Throttle. Thursdays ease into soul and rhythm with Grooveline. Fridays stay upbeat with Party Anthems, two hours of uninterrupted dance music. Saturdays bring Saturday Soul to the airwaves, and Sundays close the loop with the classical tones of Symphony Lane.
There is one shift outside the evening block. The Acoustic Hour will move to the last Sunday of each month at 4pm. Presenter Graham Oates supports the move. “The new time fits the show’s feel. Acoustic music works best when listeners can settle in and take it slow, and this slot lets that happen.”
Station manager Rob Francis said the update reflects a simple aim: to strengthen the station’s shape without losing its heart. “The goal isn’t to reinvent the schedule. It’s to give listeners more range while keeping the shows they already trust. These changes help the station sound more defined from night to night.”
The new structure marks the start of a gradual evolution at Overton Radio, with the team ready to fine-tune the schedule as the year unfolds.
