Overton Radio is excited to announce its extensive coverage of the 2024 Overton Sheepfair, taking place over the weekend of July 20th and 21st. As the village’s community radio station, Overton Radio is dedicated to bringing this historic and vibrant event to life for listeners near and far.
We will be broadcasting a live-stream over the weekend on Facebook, YouTube and for the first time, Twitch to bring you a taster of the events taking place in the village over the weekend.
On Friday 19th July, The Overton Wheelbarrow Race, a tradition that dates back over 50 years, sees participants from all walks of life compete in a spirited contest that combines skill, speed, and teamwork. This year’s race promises to be the most thrilling yet, with new challengers as well as seasoned veterans. Overton Radio’s Rob Francis is set to bring you all the action, excitement, and unique stories to listeners near and far with a special broadcast from The Red Lion pub from 7pm-9pm on race day. Our interactive coverage will include listener shout-outs, on-air questions, and social media highlights, making everyone feel like they are part of the event.
Throughout the Sheepfair weekend, Overton Radio will be broadcasting live from the heart of the festivities. Tune in for real-time updates, interviews with key participants, and in-depth coverage of the event’s highlights. From the lively market stalls to the entertaining parade and local music performances, our team will be on the ground in their bright pink shirts to capture every moment. We’ll have a live-stream broadcasting from the Red Lion on the High Street, where performers including the Overton Mummers and Men of Morris will be taking the stage.
In addition to our live broadcasts, Overton Radio will feature music playlists inspired by the fair’s lively atmosphere, which will tie in with the “Roaring Twenties” theme of this year’s event.
