Overton is about to find its rhythm as the village prepares to host the very first Overton Music Festival – a three-day celebration of live music, community spirit, and local talent.
Running from Friday 6th to Sunday 8th June at the Community Centre, this brand-new event will showcase an eclectic mix of genres and performers, with something to please every musical palate. From foot-stomping folk to soulful ballads, rollicking rock ’n’ roll to choir harmonies that’ll raise the roof – the lineup is packed and ready to shine.
Friday night opens with John Bird bringing the best in Country & Western and 60s classics, followed by Martin Wood’s popular folk favourites. There’s a double dose of energy from the Buster Cornelius Quartet, sandwiching a soulful stint by Mick Browne – expect everything from R&B to retro groove.
Saturday serves up a proper feast: Lola Gibbard kicks things off with music hall sparkle, while Sarah Hawkyard will melt hearts with her haunting ballads. Choirs, folk duos, pop covers, and open mic slots keep the day pulsing, and by evening, the vibes turn electric. Johnny Marvel’s Blues Groove closes out the night with two sets guaranteed to bring the house (or at least the village green) down.
Sunday strikes a different chord – a wholesome, heartwarming finale featuring dance performances, school choirs, brass brilliance from the Basingstoke Silver Band, and a send-off by The Fortunate Ones.
Whether you’re into toe-tapping classics, family-friendly fun, or just fancy soaking in some local culture, the Overton Music Festival promises a weekend to remember.
