Overton Fire Station has taken delivery of a brand new Light Rescue Pump, marking the first time since the late 1970s that the village has received a completely new fire engine.
Over the years, the station has operated a number of different appliances, but most have been second-hand or passed down from other services. The outgoing vehicle, which served the station for the last 15 years, has now been retired to make way for a state-of-the-art replacement.

The new fire appliance is equipped with the latest technology and equipment, enhancing the station’s ability to respond to a wide range of emergencies swiftly and effectively. Designed with modern operational demands in mind, it brings significant improvements not just in performance, but also in safety.
One of the most notable features is the incorporation of a clean cab design — a layout specifically developed to reduce firefighters’ exposure to harmful fireground contaminants. This approach helps protect crews from the long-term health risks associated with smoke and toxic residue.
The arrival of the new appliance represents a major investment in Overton’s emergency services and a significant milestone in the station’s long-standing service to the local community.
