Overton Cricket Club Enjoys Dominant Weekend

Overton Cricket Club had a weekend to remember, with all three senior teams securing impressive victories in their respective fixtures.

First XI Edge Past Alton in Nail-Biter

In a tense encounter, Overton CC’s First XI claimed a narrow 9-run victory against Alton CC’s Saturday 3rd XI. Batting first, Overton posted 188 all out in 43.3 overs, a total that proved just enough thanks to a disciplined bowling performance. Alton came close but fell short at 179 all out in 42.4 overs, leaving Overton to collect 22 points to Alton’s 10 in a match that went down to the wire.

Second XI Cruise to 113-Run Win

The Second XI delivered a dominant display against Bentworth CC’s First XI, running out 113-run winners. Overton’s batsmen set the tone early, amassing an imposing 226 for 7 in 40 overs. The bowlers then took centre stage, skittling Bentworth for just 113 in 32.5 overs, sealing 24 valuable points for Overton.

Third XI Overpower Odiham & Greywell

Not to be outdone, Overton’s Third XI produced a confident performance to secure a seven-wicket win over Odiham & Greywell CC’s Fourth XI. Chasing a target of 196 from 40 overs, Overton reached 188 for 3 in 36 overs, showcasing strong batting depth. Despite Odiham posting a competitive total, the home side’s calm chase ensured another 22-point haul for the club.

A Weekend of Wins

With all three sides victorious, Overton CC strengthened their positions across the leagues and highlighted the depth of talent running through the club. Momentum is now firmly on their side as they head into the final round of fixtures at the weekend.
