New Play Park at Two Gate Meadow Vandalised Weeks After Opening

A newly opened play park at Two Gate Meadow has been badly damaged in what local residents are calling a “disgusting” act of vandalism, just weeks after it was officially unveiled.

The park, which was designed as a fresh community space for families and children, has been left in a state of disrepair following the incident. Equipment and features appear to have been damaged, prompting concern among those who had welcomed the new facility.

Residents are being urged to avoid the area for now, as it is not currently safe or suitable for use.

Due to the bank holiday, it has not been possible to contact Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council to report the damage directly. It is expected the matter will be raised with the council once normal services resume.

The park had only recently been completed and opened, marking a positive addition to the local area. The swift damage has therefore come as a disappointment to many in the community.

Images of the vandalism have been shared locally, with thanks given to Emma Restell for documenting the scene.

Further updates are expected once the situation has been assessed and repairs can be arranged.
