It was a magnificent 7 wickets for one of our local cricketers this weekend.
Our first XI set Hook & Newnham Basics a target of 187 at Bridge Street, but the visitors were all out for 83 runs after just 21.5 overs. Sam Cross recorded his career best figures yesterday as he claimed 7 wickets in the victory. In doing so he now has 200 career wickets recorded for Overton Cricket Club. He’s only the fifth player in the club’s history to hit this milestone.
The second XI faced Oakley in a local derby at Berrydown. Unfortunately, the home side was all out for just 64 runs, and Oakley reached their target in just 14 overs to secure a 9 wicket victory.
It was a great day for the third XI as they traveled to face Compton & Chandlers Ford. The visitors set the hosts a challenging target of 125, but the hosts faltered, ending on 62 all out, securing the victory for Overton by 63 runs.
This afternoon, Overton’s women are in action as they look to secure a place in the playoffs, as they take on Stratfield Turgis/Hartley Wespall CC – this match takes place at Bridge Street at 2pm.
