After months of hard work and a refurbishment totalling £1.16 million, Lordsfield Swimming Club has announced it will reopen for the summer season on May 24th — just in time for the Bank Holiday weekend.
The big reveal was made at the club’s AGM, held on Sunday at the Community Centre, where members were told of the final touches to the extensive upgrade that’s set to transform how the community swims, splashes, and socialises.
To mark the grand reopening, the club is diving in with a jam-packed weekend programme, showcasing its fresh new offerings. From family splashing fun to cool evening swims, the revamped pool has something for everyone — even the night owls.
Here’s what swimmers can look forward to:
- More Family Swimming Sessions – because swimming is better with company.
- A Full Sunday Programme – no more dry Sundays!
- New Classes & Sessions – including adult swimming lessons (because it’s never too late to learn).
- Evening & After Dark Swims – for a chilled twilight dip.
- Special Events – teased through social media, local posters, and their shiny new WhatsApp Channel.
But behind the sparkling water and streamlined scheduling is a deeply committed army of volunteers — over 50 Desk Supervisors and countless others who help clean, fix, and maintain the facilities. From teenagers cutting their volunteering teeth to retirees keeping the place ticking, it’s a cross-generational effort.
And, uniquely, every single person who works at the pool is a volunteer.
Desk Supervisor training will take place before opening, and the call is out for new volunteers of all shapes, sizes, and swimming abilities.
So, whether you’re a water baby, a community champion, or just someone handy with a mop, Lordsfield Swimming Club wants you.
