Lane and Slip Road Closures Near Basingstoke for Communication Work

Drivers travelling on the M3 near Basingstoke should expect further disruptions this weekend as National Highways continues its work to improve communication systems on the motorway.

From 8pm on Friday, April 11, to 6am on Monday, April 13, both the hard shoulder and lane one in both directions will be closed between Junctions 6 and 7. Additionally, the M3 northbound entry slip road at Junction 7 will be closed from 9pm on Friday, April 11, until 9pm on Saturday, April 12, for essential communication work.

For motorists wishing to join the M3 northbound at Junction 7, National Highways has outlined a diversion route. Drivers will be diverted onto the southbound carriageway, before being instructed to take the A303, turn around at Popham Junction, and rejoin the M3 northbound.

This work is part of an ongoing £350,000 project aimed at enhancing communication systems along the M3 between Junctions 6 and 7.

Last weekend’s closure for ducting installation caused delays of over 30 minutes for those travelling between Winchester and Basingstoke, but this weekend’s closure is expected to complete the communication connection and pave the way for improved traffic management in the future.

Motorists are advised to plan ahead and allow extra time for their journeys, particularly during the overnight and weekend closures.
