The day has finally arrived. Weeks of wheelbarrow maintenance and costume design come to a head tonight as the annual Wheelbarrow Race returns to Overton tonight. It’s all to raise money for sporting facilities in the village, and although the weather doesn’t look too promising, it should be a fun evening!

99 people are taking part this year, and we’re looking forward to seeing the amazing outfits and wheelbarrow designs you’ve created!

The race starts at Pound Road at 7:30pm. Participants will travel to each pub (drinking a half pint each) at The Greyhound, The Old House at Home, Overton Memorial Institute, The White Hart and then the Red Lion, before finishing at the Overton Recreation Centre on Bridge Street, where there will be a disco, with a licensed bar, and food courtesy of Yum Yum.

Overton Radio will be broadcasting live from The Red Lion throughout the race, followed by live music from Georgie Rose. All of the village pubs will be open as well, and they look forward to welcoming you.

REMEMBER: For safety reasons, roads will be closed during the race – and the car park at The Red Lion is closed all day. Dogs are NOT permitted on the grounds of the Overton Recreation Centre.
