Overton’s new community radio station has secured the first two of its founding advertisers.
Shane Barlow and Luke Stickland have become the radio station’s first advertising partners. Shane who runs Barlow Construction and Luke who runs Stickland Plumbing and Heating are the first two local companies to support the radio service which officially launches later this month.
Barlow Construction has been operating in the area for 24 years and provides building services to people in Hampshire. Owner Shane, originally from Kingsclere, who has lived in the village for 15 years says, “Overton has a great community spirit. I’m really pleased to support this social enterprise.
“There’s so much great stuff happening around Overton, this is a special way that people can be entertained with great music, but also learn about what’s happening around the corner.“
Overton Radio has six ‘founding advertiser’ packages available – from just £250 per year. The package will provide advertising, sponsorship and social content for supporting businesses, while the income will be used to pay for the operation of the radio service.
Father of three Shane adds, “Overton is a really friendly place and ideal for bringing up a young family.
“It’s really important to me that we all work together to help support our local businesses, organisations and economy.”
Barlow Construction is well known and respected in the village for providing cost-efficient and professional building work from kitchen fitting to building extensions and loft conversions, as well as providing services on all aspects of general building works and maintenance.
Overton Radio will be available on digital devices such as Alexa by asking it to “Play Overton Radio” and will broadcast from a telephone box on Winchester Street. The station features a wide range of music from the 60s until today, but features information, people and news of interest to those who live, work and play in the village.
