Criminal Damage in Overton: Vehicles and School Pathway Targeted in Corrosive Attack

Overton residents have been left shocked after a serious incident of criminal damage occurred overnight between 10pm and 7am at Lordsfield Gardens. Four vehicles parked outside homes were targeted with a highly corrosive substance, stripping the paint back to the metal.

In addition to the vehicle damage, a bag and gloves containing the same harmful substance were discovered on the pavement near Overton Primary School. Concerned citizens promptly reported this to the police, but they have stated they will not be dispatching officers to remove the substance from the school’s pathway. A local resident has volunteered to cautiously remove the hazardous material later today to ensure the safety of children and pedestrians.

Hampshire Police’s forensics team has completed their investigation at the scene. Following this, the local council will arrange for a dedicated clean-up team to remove any remaining traces of the substance. In the meantime, security teams have left the area, and sections of the affected pavement have been taped off.

Authorities are urging residents to avoid these areas and to respect the safety barriers in place. Anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the area during the timeframe of the attack is encouraged to come forward and report any information.
