It was a weekend of mixed fortunes for Overton Cricket Club, with strong victories for the 1st and 2nd XIs, while the 3rd XI endured a tough outing.
The 1st XI produced a commanding performance at Bridge Street to defeat Odiham & Greywell 2nd XI by 72 runs. Andrew Galvin top-scored with a composed 47, supported by Ian Clarke (38) and Adam Secret (23), helping set a solid total. The bowlers then did the job efficiently to secure a comfortable win.

The 2nd XI enjoyed a high-scoring run chase against Andover 3rd XI, successfully chasing 236 with seven wickets in hand. Chris Young was the star of the innings, falling just short of a century on 98, with Andy Pett also in blistering form, hitting 90 in a confident display.
Meanwhile, the 3rd XI had a challenging day against Binsted 1st XI. After being bowled out for just 75, the opposition chased down the target inside 11 overs. Piers Puntan (20), Steve Blunden, and George Webster (both 16) showed some resistance, but it wasn’t enough to avoid a heavy defeat.
Plenty of positives to take forward, especially for the top two sides, as the club continues to build momentum early in the season.
