Christmas Story Trail opens at St Mary’s Church

St Mary’s Church is inviting the community to step into the Christmas story with a special festive trail running from Saturday December 20th to Wednesday December 31st.

The Christmas Story Trail will be open during daylight hours and is designed for the young, the young at heart, and anyone curious about the story behind Christmas.

Visitors can follow five Nativity Stations, each showing a different part of the story. Along the way there are knitted nativity figures, interactive augmented reality posters, and short verses from the Bible that bring each scene to life.

The first station focuses on the Prophets, who spoke about the birth of Jesus around 700 years before it happened. The trail then moves to the traditional nativity scene, with baby Jesus in his crib, surrounded by animals. Next come the Shepherds, watching over their sheep in the fields, followed by the three Wise Men as they arrive with their gifts.

The final station offers a different view of the story. It features James, one of Jesus’ brothers. Jesus had four brothers and at least two sisters, and James shares what it was like growing up with Jesus as his older brother.

The trail is free to visit and open to everyone. Families, individuals, and visitors of all ages are warmly welcomed to explore, reflect, and enjoy a fresh take on the Christmas story this festive season.
